Vapotherm, a manufacturer of respiratory care devices, has received CE mark approval for its Precision Flow Heliox, a high flow humidification system for use with blended helium oxygen gas mixtures (Heliox).
The humidification system is designed for neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations to treat upper airway obstruction, asthma, croup and COPD.
The system optimizes the delivery of gases via blending, flow control, humidification and temperature management.
Vapotherm chief business development officer Bill Niland said the device provides clinicians with an approach to administer heliox via nasal cannula, without the risks of more invasive methods like mechanical ventilation and pressure based therapies.
