The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent No. 7,660,488 to DR Systems' monitoring technology which tracks portions of medical images that are displayed according to particular display parameters, such as at a particular resolution.
The patent describes systems and methods for monitoring portions of medical images that are displayed on a display device, notating those portions that have been displayed at full resolution and provides the user with information indicating portions that have not been viewed at full resolution.
The patented technology is implemented in DR Systems’s unity picture archiving and communications system (PACS) module which is used by radiologists for performing diagnostic reading of digital patient images.
