Thermo Fisher Scientific has obtained in vitro diagnostics device (IVDD) CE mark approval for its Prelude MD HPLC, Endura MD mass spectrometer and ClinQuan MD software.

Clinical laboratories can access the high-performance liquid chromatograph, mass spectrometer and LC-MS software for in vitro diagnostic use in analyzing patient samples as components of laboratory-developed tests.

Thermo Fisher Scientific life sciences mass spectrometry and clinical markets strategic director Bradley Hart said: "We’re strongly committed to bringing the advantages of LC-MS to the clinical market.

"These three products are part of a larger initiative to make mass spectrometry more useful and accessible to clinicians."

The company will showcase the products at the second annual European conference on clinical mass spectrometry, MSACL EU 2015 Conference, at Salzburg of Austria.

Recently, the company introduced two new next-generation sequencing (NGS) systems, which provide comprehensive solution to simplify targeted sequencing.

The scientists can use the new Ion S5 and Ion S5 XL benchtop systems in research areas, including inherited disorders, infectious agents, microbial identification and translational cancer research.
