TeDan Surgical Innovations has introduced the Phantom Series of minimally invasive surgical (MIS) device, Anterior Hip Retractor system.

The Phantom MIS system uses an adjustable surgical arms system which has attachable retractors, thus facilitating surgeons to perform the entire procedure without a fracture table or a surgical assistant.

TeDan Surgical said surgeons are opting to operate hip replacement through anterior approach due to the expediting patient recovery time and minimal post-operative discomforts.

University of Southern California Medical Center Orthopedic surgeon Daniel Allison said they wanted to create a system that could place the anterior approach to hip replacement into the hands of any orthopedic surgeon, minimizing trauma to the patient’s soft tissues and bone.

University of Southern California Medical Center Orthopedic surgeon Lawrence Menendez said from the first go-round, the surgery was made much easier and they are excited to start giving this system to other surgeons and patients.
