Tandem Diabetes Care has expanded its development and commercialization agreement to include Dexcom's continuous glucose monitor (CGM), designed to detect trends and tracking patterns in persons (age 18 and older) with diabetes.
The FDA-cleared G4 PLATINUM monitoring system comprises three components including a sensor, which is a small wire that is inserted under the abdomen skin for measuring glucose values in the fluid between the body’s cells, as well as a transmitter and receiver.
G4 PLATINUM’s clinical study, conducted by Dexcom, has shown to improve overall accuracy and ease of use compared to the company’s previous Seven Plus CGM,
Tandem president and chief executive officer Kim Blickenstaff said, "Dexcom’s G4 PLATINUM sensor is the most accurate and easiest to use technology available, and fits well with our product development plans."
