Synergy Health, a UK based medical products manufacturer, has added medical and surgical products to its sterile procedure packs.

The first medicinal product to be approved for use in Synergy Health’s Concept procedure packs is sterile skin preparation solution Chloraprep, used across the NHS for general procedures such as peripheral IV cannulation.

Chloraprep will be integrated into a number of the company’s single use packs, which are used for a wide variety of general procedures, and in varied healthcare environments, including ambulances, general wards, theatre, maternity, obstetrics, gynaecology, and primary care.

Synergy Health Sales and Marketing director David Bardsley said all the soft components, instruments, and now selected medicines, are available in one single-use sterile Concept procedure pack.

"This reduces operational risk by standardizing procedures and aligns with guidelines from the Department of Health and The Hospital Infection Society including Saving Lives, Winning Ways and Epic 2," Bardsley said.

"Concept procedure packs save cost and time involved in the traditional purchasing approach of ordering multiple items from a number of suppliers, which also creates stock control, storage and co-ordination issues. Sterile supplementary products are also available, to avoid potential waste."

Synergy Health was granted a Manufacturers’/Importers’ Licence (MIA) by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, enabling the company to assemble medicines in its procedure packs, subject to efficacy testing on each product.
