Spiracur has received CE mark approval for its new ultraportable, single-use negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, SNaP Wound Care System, in the European Union (EU).

The device is helpful to patients who would benefit from a suction device for wound healing and it works by removing small amounts of exudate (fluid) from chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, including diabetic or pressure ulcers and surgically closed incisions.

The SNaP Wound Care System’s (Smart Negative Pressure) design eliminates electric or battery power in the healing process and the delivery device is silent and light in weight of 85gms.

The device enables patient to resume their daily activities avoiding exposure of wounds as it is disposable and can fit in patient’s clothing.

Spiracur president and CEO Gary Restani said the CE mark approval for SNaP Wound Care System will enable clinicians throughout the European Union to treat patients suffering from chronic wounds with clinically proven negative pressure wound therapy.

"Spiracur is well positioned to not only enhance the therapy of chronic wound conditions, but also improve the outcomes of treatment," Restani said.
