SpineGuard, a maker of enhanced pedicle screw placement equipment, has announced the expansion of its PediGuard platform with the introduction of its PediGuard Curv in a limited release among key opinion leaders (KOLs) in spine surgery.
The full-scale launch is scheduled for the upcoming annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) in Denver, April 9-13, 2011.
The PediGuard Curv pedicle screw placement device is expected to enable SpineGuard to further penetrate the spine surgery market, since 30% of spine surgeons prefer a "curved"-tipped probe which prevents misplacements.
SpineGuard US Operations general manager and chief technology officer Stephane Bette has said that PediGuard Curv is the first new product coming out of SpineGuard’s pipeline.
SpineGuard CEO Pierre Jerome said thirty spine surgeries have been performed since mid-December 2010 in the limited-release programme for PediGuard Curv.
