SafeWire, a provider of orthopedic and spinal products, has introduced Y-wire in the US.
Y-wire is a guidewire which is designed to reduce forward migration during surgery and also to help eliminate wire kinking issues.
Y-wire also addresses guidewire improvement for instruments and implants.
SafeWire CEO Wyatt Geist said the feedback that the company has received from surgeons in the pilot has been very positive.
"It is our hope to continue to improve procedures by releasing new products that will reduce fluoroscopy, minimizing inadvertent trajectories, and will make the procedures faster and easier," Geist added.
"The next product to be launched is scheduled in May 2012."
