Roche is set to implement Icon's medical image review and analysis (MIRA) software as its central repository for medical images.

As a technology partner, Icon will help Roche in storing and managing medical images collected during Roche’s clinical research programs.

MIRA provides functionality for imaging and clinical data management, image analysis, project management and document management.

Roche imaging infrastructure leader Gudrun Zahlman said the company has achieved the seamless integration of images hosted in MIRA with its clinical data repository and data mining tools for trial decision making, and have integrated 3rd party image analysis software within MIRA for quantitative biomarker research.

Icon medical imaging executive vice president and CTO Andrew Kraus said MIRA’s imaging capabilities and fault tolerance mechanisms, made it an ideal solution to offer clients in a software as a service (SaaS) framework.

"MIRA’s extensible architecture also enables plug-in modules for advanced analysis," Kraus said.
