RaySearch Laboratories, a provider of advanced software for radiation therapy, has entered into a long-term distribution agreement with Japan-based Hitachi Medical.

The agreement means that Hitachi will be fully responsible for marketing, sales and service of RaySearch’s proprietary treatment planning system RayStation on the Japanese market from 1 April 2014.

RaySearch CEO Johan Lof noted Hitachi is a leading distributor of advanced radiation therapy equipment with a long track record and a large installed base, so the company of course delighted that they have elected to partner with RaySearch.

"We will now work closely together with Hitachi’s experienced experts to satisfy the needs of the Japanese clinics and I am fully convinced that this collaboration will be highly fruitful for both companies," Lof added.

RayStation integrates all RaySearch’s advanced treatment planning solutions into a flexible treatment planning system.

It combines unique features such as multi-criteria optimization tools with full support for 4D adaptive radiation therapy.

It also includes functionality such as RaySearch’s market-leading algorithms for IMRT and VMAT optimization and highly accurate dose engines for photon, electron and proton therapy.

The system is built on the latest software architecture and has a graphical user interface offering state-of-the-art usability.
