Paragonix Technologies has signed a distribution agreement with Bio Instruements for its SherpaPak cardiac and kidney transport systems.

Under the deal, the partnership will distribute Paragonix’s SherpaPak cardiac and kidney transport systems for transplant centers in the Midwestern US.

SherpaPak systems are static hypothermic preservation and transport devices for donor organs in transplant centers.

The system aggregates oxygenated perfusion of organs and safe organ storage to extend ischemic time to 12 hours.

The fully disposable system can eliminate problems associated with maintenance, device transport and contamination.

In November, Paragonix also signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Pacific West Medical Sales for SherpaPak systems in California.

In December 2014, Paragonix secured two 510(k) clearances for Paragonix system to combine and distribute with any FDA-cleared and commercially-available preservation solution.

Paragonix also produces SherpaPerfusion cardiac transport system, which is an organ preservation device that will improve donor organ quality.

Paragonix Technologies chairman and CEO William Edelman said: “We are excited for Bio Instruments to join our expanding SherpaPak distributor network. On a national basis we are seeing tremendous market response to the SherpaPak cardiac and kidney transport systems.

“SherpaPak provides best-in-class donor organ management solutions for safe and reliable preservation and transport of donor hearts and kidneys.

“In November 2016, we engaged in an exclusive distribution agreement with Pacific West Medical Sales. We are adding distribution capability to our growing channel and look to have additional announcements in the near future.”
