Pacific Dental Services has entered into a three year agreement to purchase LED Medical Diagnostics' 400 VELscope Vx systems.
VELscope Vx is a handheld device which is used by dentists to detect early stage oral cancer and pre-cancer, as well as other oral abnormalities such as viral, fungal and bacterial infections.
VELscope Vx utilizes the technology which offers both cordless convenience and an optional digital camera and customized bracket that makes it easy for dentists to photo-document suspicious lesions.
The device has received Health Canada and the US Food and Drug Administration approvals.
Pacific Dental Services clinicians vice president Charles Rodgers said, "Our National Dental Advisory Board has unanimously recommended the use of the VELscope Vx at all of our affiliated locations, and we are confident that this innovative technology meets the needs of both our affiliate clinicians and their patients."
