Available on the NHS, the E-MAG Active is a lightweight system designed to improve mobility and the quality of life of stroke and polio patients.
Otto Bock Healthcare said the system uses intelligent sensor technology to constantly measure the position of the wearer’s leg while walking, ensuring it locks and unlocks at the right times.
The electronically controlled knee-joint, launched earlier this year in the UK, provides constant orthotic support to help prevent from getting overly tired during the day.
Otto Bock Healthcare business development manager David Buchanan said appropriate rehabilitation helps to provide a better outcome, but orthoses such as those designed by Otto Bock aid and enhance the recovery process.
