The US Patent Office has granted two new patents including 8,098,544 and 8,099,168, to OrthoSensor's intelligent orthopedic surgical platform.

The patent 8,098,544 was given for a method and system for enhancing accuracy in ultrasonic alignment and 8,099,168 for post-operative pain inhibition for joint replacement and method.

Intelligent Orthopedics single use devices are being designed to provide orthopedic surgeons quantifiable, intra-operative feedback on soft tissue balancing and mechanical alignment to improve clinical and economic outcomes.

OrthoSensor CEO Jay Pierce said these most recent patents further strengthen their intellectual property in the area of ultrasonic alignment and will also support their development of a line of intelligent implants, including the first smart knee.
