Occlutech, a leading innovator of implants to treat structural heart disease, has obtained European CE mark approval for its Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect (PmVSD) occluder.

The device is a specifically designed implant indicated for the minimally invasive closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defects.

Perimembranous VSDs represent 70 – 80 % of all VSDs. Ventricular Septal Defects are the most common congenital cardiac abnormalities and they account for 30-60% of all congenital heart defects in newborns (about 2-6 VSDs per 1,000 births).

Occlutech's PmVSD Occluder consists of a flexible nitinol wire mesh with "shape-memory" properties and has been specifically designed for the closure of PmVSDs.
