Noveko International's subsidiary SAS ECM has signed a distribution agreement for the Imagyne ultrasound scanner in the People's Republic of China. ECM will also market the new Exago ultrasound scanner in Canada and the US.

The Imagyne is a 64-channel ultrasound scanner device designed for obstetrics, gynecology and vascular medicine, which marked ECM’s initial foray into human medicine.

The Exago is a portable scanner initially intended for veterinarians in the equine market and after obtaining the required approvals, it is expected to be used in human medicine for emergency, anaesthesia and army requirements.

ECM has obtained authorization from the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of the People’s Republic of China to sell its Imagyne ultrasound scanner in China, and concluded an exclusive distribution agreement with Ningbo Xingaoyi Magnetism (NXM), a Chinese firm manufacturing magnetic resonance equipment.

Under the three year agreement, NXM agrees to purchase Imagyne scanners for use in human medicine in China, all for a minimum value of EUR5.7m, of which EUR900,000 will be paid for the first year.

ECM president Patrice Emery said that they are pleased to see that their numerous product and market development efforts are bearing fruit and this agreement gives ECM a strategic edge with the marketing of Imagyne in China, one of the world’s largest markets, considerably strengthens our position in the human ultrasonography market.

“We expect the upcoming launch of our two high-end portable scanners, the Exago and the Exagyne, to further promote our penetration of this market, since we will offer a full range of human medicine ultrasound scanners,” Emery said.
