Nordson has completed the acquisition of St Paul, Minnesota-based Micromedics, a provider in applying and dispensing biomaterials for controlling bleeding, healing wounds and other related medical procedures.

The acquired business will be integrated into Nordson’s Advanced Technology Systems segment.

Micromedics product lines related to ear, nose and throat applications and surgical instrument protection were not acquired by Nordson, but will continue to be manufactured and sold as part of a new company called Summit Medical.

Nordson president and CEO Michael Hilton said that Micromedics extends the company’s expertise in precision dispensing technology and adds to our growing suite of applications in the expanding medical device and life sciences market.

“The company is an ideal fit with Nordson’s strategy of acquiring high performing market leaders with differentiated technology and significant recurring revenue,” Hilton said.

Micromedics bioapplicator products are marketed under the name FibriJet and include single and dual syringe applicators modified with interchangeable tips for the particular needs of specific surgical procedures.
