Nordion and Capgemini have signed a two-year information technology (ITO) services contract extension, under which Capgemini will provide Infrastructure Management (IM) support, including server, desktop, helpdesk, storage, back-up and network outsourcing services, to Nordion.

Nordion is a global health science company that provides products and services used for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

The original contract between Nordion (formerly MDS) and Capgemini was effective June 2006, and this current contract extension calls for Capgemini to continue to provide information technology (IT) services in support of Nordion’s strategic initiative to focus in providing products for medical imaging, radiotherapeutics and sterilisation technologies.

Nordion Human Resources And Information Technology senior vice-president Christopher Ashwood said that by keeping our IT services with Capgemini, they can continue to concentrate the resources on their clients and on growth opportunities.

“We chose Capgemini to help us maintain our IT services because they provide the global resources we require and they understand our business, our people and our values,” Ashwood said.

Capgemini Americas Outsourcing Services vice president Ted Levine said that Capgemini and Nordion have a strong and long-standing relationship, and they look forward to continuing to collaborate with them as they focus on growing their business.

“This contract extension will allow us to continue to support Nordion’s infrastructure needs with efficient information technology services that provide Nordion the agility required to meet changing market demands” Levine said.
