MO BIO Laboratories has introduced a new nucleic acid purification tool for isolation of DNA from stool, gut material and biosolids.

The tool, PowerFecal DNA Isolation kit, uses the isolated DNA to characterize the human microbiome.

Using the company’s Inhibitor Removal Technology, the kit removes PCR inhibitors commonly found in stool or gut material (for example, lipids, polysaccharides and heme) and eliminates false negatives in downstream applications such as qPCR.

In addition, the kit represents the nucleic acid population uniformly by the bead-based lysis of the DNA.

The company said the kit purifies DNA from 250 mg samples in just 30 minutes.
