Misonix, a developer of minimally invasive ultrasonic medical device technology, has entered into a new, three-year distribution agreement with Rio de Janeiro-based Neuro Orthopaedics Surgeries (Neuro Orthopaedics), for the distribution of SonaStar ultrasonic surgical aspirator and BoneScalpel ultrasonic bone cutter in Brazil.

As per the agreement, Neuro Orthopaedics has been provided with the right to sell both the devices in Brazil and includes minimum purchase requirements.

The SonaStar is used by Neuro and General Surgeons for the removal of both hard and soft tumors, while sparing most vessels. In addition, OsteoSculpt bone sculpting technology can be employed with the SonaStar to remove osseous structures, thus providing access to the surgical site.

The BoneScalpel is a tissue specific osteotomy device capable of making precise cuts through bone and hard tissue, while preserving delicate soft tissue structures. It offers the convenience and speed of a power instrument without the danger associated with rotary sharps, said Misonix.

Michael McManus, president and chief executive officer of Misonix, said: “Misonix is pleased to add Neuro Orthopaedics Surgeries to our family of Latin American specialty distributors, a geographic area that is receiving a special emphasis from our Sales and Marketing team. We are particularly pleased that they will be distributing two of our key products through their well established surgical products organization.”
