The enterprise imaging and interoperability solutions provider, Merge Healthcare, has launched a new image archiving application, Honeycomb Archive.

Honeycomb Archive is designed to meet organization’s needs including scalability, long-term storage, eliminate management and maintenance of onsite hardware and the challenges associated with power, cooling and bandwidth.

Honeycomb Archive holds images securely in multiple locations, provides anywhere and any time access as well as delivers comprehensive functionality in a framework that meets privacy requirements of HIPAA, HITECH and others.

Merge said as image archiving is second application, Merge Honeycomb’s first application is image sharing which helps users to upload, download, view and share medical images.

Merge Healthcare CEO Jeff Surges said, "With imaging accounting for up to 90% of all data stored in electronic health records, it is clear that image availability and exchange is critical to delivering quality patient care."

Apart from image archiving solution, Merge’s cloud solutions includes iConnect VNA, a vendor neutral archive; iConnect Share, an Internet-based gateway for image sharing between enterprises and iConnect Access, a zero-download DICOM image viewer.
