Medtronic, Inc. (Medtronic), in a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, revealed that it received the subpoena on May 21, 2009 from the US Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts. The subpoena requests documents related to a study published in 2008 in the British volume of the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.
The subpoena covers documents related to contracts, research grants, speaking and education programs, and payments for certain physicians related to the Infuse study.
Medtronic said it will comply as required with the terms of the subpoena.
On June 16, 2009, the company received an administrative subpoena from the New Jersey Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, requesting production of documents relating to the company’s clinical studies, its financial arrangements with certain physicians and health care providers, and clinical research done by certain physicians and health care providers. The company will comply as required with the terms of the subpoena.
