Medline Industries has launched a tissue adhesive, octylseal, to close surgical incisions and trauma-induced lacerations.

Octylseal, when used in conjunction with sutures or tapes, aids the wound to close and protect it against water.

Octylseal also creates a microbial barrier when used as a liquid bandage on top of other closure devices such as sutures or tapes.

Octylseal is less exothermic, skin friendly and cures with the natural moisture of the skin, rather than harsh chemicals present in other adhesives.

The company said it has launched octylseal at the 59th Annual Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) congress in New Orleans, Louisiana, US.
