The economy of the ASEAN countries is continuously developing well despite the corona crisis. Singapore, with its strong economic power and important research institutions, is the engine of economic development. From the Western-influenced innovation hub, activities can be launched in other Asian markets.

From 31 August to 2 September 2022, Medical Manufacturing Asia (MMA) will take place in Singapore as a trade fair for suppliers parallel to the Medical Fair Asia. Manufacturers and suppliers of medical manufacturing meet on site to exchange information on current technologies and trends and to present their product innovations to the Asian market.

Components, modules and technologies for medical technology

MMA focuses on micro- and nanotechnology innovations such as components and modules for medical technology, lab-on-a-chip technologies, measurement and testing methods, assembly and production technologies, process technology, biocompatible materials and functional coatings.

After successful trade fair appearances in the years 2012 to 2018, the joint stand of the IVAM Microtechnology Association will once again offer a joint appearance for developers and producers of micro- and nanotechnology innovations. Highlights include company visits on 28 August and the “High-tech for Medical Devices” session at the forum accompanying the trade fair on 1 September. The first IVAM Marketing Prize Asia Award will also be presented on site. At the joint stand, six international high-tech companies will present their innovative products and services.

Product highlights of MMA

Accumold is a high-tech manufacturer of precision plastic micro injection molded parts with geometries ranging from 5 cm to less than 1 mm. The company offers the following processes: insert technology, injection molding in clean rooms and injection and overmolding of molded parts. At the show, Accumold will present the advantages of micro-injection molding technology for medical technology through a series of case studies. Case study examples include: pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of size, and high volume at high quality, and examining overmolded/injected components, including metal, mesh, fabric, glass, and other subtle materials.

HNP Mikrosysteme offers pumps that dose the smallest amounts of liquid extremely precisely. Five series enable the smallest dosing volumes from 0.25 μl and volume flows from 1 μl/h to 1152 ml/min. HNPM develops OEM pumps and offers compact dosing systems for analysis, research and development, such as LiquiDoS for dosing tasks in the laboratory or μDispense for analysis devices. Applications include laboratory automation, pharmaceutical production, medical and analytical technology, sample preparation for the determination of blood parameters or pathogens, and flow cytometry.

MedWorld Advisors is a global boutique consulting firm specializing in small to medium-sized companies in the medical technology, MedTech, DentalTech, Biomed, BioTech, Digital Health, emerging technologies and healthcare sectors as a whole. The company is based in the United States and, in addition to an office in Hong Kong, has partners all over the world, thus achieving truly global reach. The cooperation takes place closely with strategists of the industry as well as with PE companies.

Microsystems UK will be exhibiting samples of microfluidic molded parts and inserts at the show, demonstrating the quality of micromachining that can be achieved with the in-house micro milling machines. These inserts can be micromachined in fully hardened stainless molded steels at 48/52 Rc, using milling cutters with a diameter of only 50 microns. Microsystems can also micromachin nickel-coated mold inserts with diamond cutters to achieve the highest accuracy (+/- 2 microns and a surface finish of <10 Nm Ra). Typically, these inserts are used for forming blood analysis laboratory-on-chip components for medical devices with ISO13485.

Micronel AG presents products for mechanical ventilation, care and respiratory therapy. The company offers miniature high-performance fans and blowers designed worldwide for demanding air pressure, vacuum and flow applications. The products are characterized by maximum performance in the smallest of spaces, are efficient, reliable and quiet and are suitable for demanding suction, vacuum and pressure applications and especially for ventilators with highly dynamic operating states. Extensive application experience and engineering expertise make the company the ideal project partner for customer-specific challenges.

Specialty Coating Systems Inc. (SCS) conformal coatings form biocompatible surfaces with good sliding properties and provide excellent moisture, chemical and dielectric barrier protection. For five decades, SCS’s conformal coatings have provided protection for a wide range of medical devices and components, including stents, heart therapy devices, electrosurgical instruments, catheters, elastomer seals, medical electronics, neurostimulators, and cochlear and eyepiece implants, and other products.
