Luna Innovations, a developer of new-generation products for the healthcare market, has entered into a multi-year distribution and supply agreement with Intuitive Surgical.
The supply agreement, which has been amended, provides for several development milestones through 2015.
Luna CEO My Chung said this new commitment with Intuitive further expands the company’s relationship with a leader in the growing field of robotically-assisted surgery.
"It further demonstrates the significant advancements our company has made toward revenue-enhancing productization as we continue to focus on shape sensing as an area for growth," Chung added.
The latest agreement builds on earlier work between the firms to integrate Luna’s high-speed shape-sensing technology into Intuitive’s platform for robotically-assisted minimally invasive surgery.
Under the terms of the latest agreement, Luna is the exclusive supplier to Intuitive of the components and also includes the work plan for a multi-year period in order to make the components representing Luna’s technology is available to the market.
