Know Labs, a US-based medical device company developing non-invasive health monitoring systems, has unveiled KnowU, its wearable non-invasive continuous glucose monitor (CGM).

KnowU is designed based on Know Labs’ unique technology that incorporates a unique radiofrequency (RF) sensor, which has proven to be stable and accurate in lab tests.

The sensor measures glucose levels using dielectric spectroscopy by quickly scanning a wide range of RF frequencies.

It records voltage values detected at each frequency to quantify, with advanced machine learning algorithms, real-time continuous blood glucose levels.

KnowU exploits the dielectric properties of glucose, including its ability to store electrical energy in an electrical field, as measured through a voltage reading received after each frequency.

Know Labs chairman and CEO Ron Erickson said: “The prevalence of diabetes is growing globally at an alarming rate. Millions of people face significant barriers in accessing the technology and treatment they need to effectively manage their diabetes.

“Know Labs is committed to delivering an accessible, affordable, and accurate solution that improves the current standard of care and enhances the quality of life for those living with diabetes.

“The KnowU brings us closer to a future where equitable care in diabetes management will become a reality.”

According to the company, KnowU can be worn with an adhesive, allowing the user to clip the sensor on the wrist or forearm with a strap.

The device is designed to be significantly smaller and lighter than the prototype and includes onboard computing power and built-in machine-learning capabilities.

It optimises the customer experience, lasts for years, eliminates costly disposables, comes with a rechargeable battery, and connects easily with a companion mobile app.

KnowU supports advanced data collection, including determining its performance with continuous wear on different locations on the body, said the medical device maker.

Furthermore, Know Labs is preparing for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical trials of the non-invasive blood glucose monitor.
