The Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) has granted regulatory approval to OrthoAccel Technologies' AcceleDent orthodontic device.

The lightweight, hands-free AcceleDent is a home made appliance which is used to speed up the rate of orthodontic treatment.

The company said the FDA-cleared orthodontic device safely accelerates orthodontic tooth movement by applying gentle vibrations and micropulses.

Inno DMC CEO and south korean distributor Sung-ku Hong said, "AcceleDent is an important advancement in orthodontic care and I’m certain it will be welcomed by Korean orthodontists and their patients."

OrthoAccel Technologies CEO Michael Lowe said the company has been eager to open the South Korean market since first entering into a distribution agreement with Inno DMC back in 2010.

"This is an exciting step, marking the company’s first movement into the Asia Pacific region," Lowe added.
