JS Genetics, a developer of DNA diagnostic tests, has introduced a bloodless buccal swab test, XCAT-FX, to detect Fragile X syndrome.

The PCR based test can identify Fragile X causing inherited intellectual disability in males as well as infertility and fragile X-associated primary ovarian insufficiency in females.

JS Genetics said the results of the test will be provided within 3 days, following the receipt of the samples at its CLIA certified, CAP accredited laboratory.

JS Genetics medical director Henry Rinder said: "Fragile X testing will further enhance our laboratory’s ability to aid physicians in making the sometimes difficult diagnosis of disorders of sex chromosomes, which also include Turner and Klinefelter syndromes and related sex chromosome aneuploidies."
