Germany-based invendo medical has obtained CE mark for its single-use endoscope For colonoscopies.

The invendoscope SC200 is part of the new invendoscopy E200 System. It helps to avoid the main challenge of gastrointestinal endoscopy.

It enables to reduce the complex reprocessing of endoscopes and decrease the risk of cross-contamination for patients.

The invendoscopy technology is robotically-assisted and ergonomically designed to provide gastroenterologists better control and improve physician comfort while performing procedures.

Earlier this year, the firm also secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for the invendoscope SC200 single-use colonoscope. It plans to introduce the device in the next year.

invendo medical CEO Timo Hercegfi said: “Our revolutionary technology uniquely addresses the significant challenges associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of traditional reusable endoscopes by providing an ergonomically advanced endoscope that offers both sterility and single use.

“The CE Mark is a significant accomplishment for our company, which enables us to provide endoscopists in Europe with a more advanced technology to perform colonoscopies and a system that enhances patient safety over current devices.”

invendo medical produces sterile, single-use and robotically-assisted HD endoscopy products for use in the gastroenterology and GI surgery applications.

In addition, the company is planning to introduce a full suite of other sterile and single-use GI endoscopes in the future.
