The FDA-approved ViSi Mobile solution, which continuously monitors heart rate or pulse rate, electrocardiogram (ECG), blood pressure, blood oxygenation level, respiration rate and skin temperature, wirelessly transmits patient vital sign information for remote viewing and notification, as well as to interface with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Intermountain chief technology officer Frederick Holston said, "Our mission to transform healthcare continues to focus on improving quality and lowering costs."

In line with the initiative, Intermountain is currently piloting ViSi Mobile in two post-surgical care units at its Intermountain Medical Center in Murray and LDS Hospital, in Salt Lake City, Utah, US.

Sotera Wireless marketing VP Gunnar Trommer said, "Intermountain is recognized as one of the leaders in healthcare and is clearly aligned with our vision to improve patient safety — that’s why we have partnered together to deliver better patient care and patience safety."

Intermountain said live presentations and demonstrations will be held from 4-6 March 2013.
