Integra LifeSciences, a provider of orthopedic devices, has launched IPP-ON PIP Fusion system for the treatment of hammertoe deformity.

The IPP-ON PIP system, a one-piece, stainless steel interphalangeal fusion device, is indicated for use in the lesser toes for fixation of proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint arthrodes.

The system is anatomically adaptive by offering both cortical and cancellous fixation.

Integra extremity reconstruction vice president and general manager Bill Weber said Integra IPP-ON PIP Fusion system provides surgeons one-piece alternative to hammertoe fixation.

"Unlike some similar products, our device is not temperature sensitive and has no handling or storage requirements," Weber added.

"This is an excellent feature, since it is ready for use whenever the surgeon needs it."

The company said FDA approved Integra IPP-ON PIP Fusion system will be presented at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society 2012 Annual Meeting being held between 20-23 June 2012 in San Diego, California, US.
