The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted 510(k) approval to Integra LifeSciences' Jarit Take-Apart laparoscopic instruments.

Jarit laparoscopic instruments address the concerns of both hospitals and regulatory bodies about the need for instruments that can be easily cleaned and sterilized.

Jarit instruments allow the components to be disassembled, making cleaning and visual inspection easier.

Integra surgical president Dan Reuvers said the company’s new take-apart design balances ease of cleaning with surgeon preference, both of which are important goals in achieving optimal patient care.

Integra provides surgical instruments which are used in general, neuro and cardiac surgeries, as well as surgical retractor systems and illumination products.
