Humana has purchased all the assets of Certify Data Systems, a developer of health information exchange (HIE) technology for use in health systems and ambulatory care settings.

Certify’s HIE technology including HealthLogix Enterprise platform connects healthcare providers to share the clinical information with electronic health record systems and solve complex clinical interoperability and data analysis problems in real time.

Under the acquisition, Certify, which will operate as Humana’s subsidiary, will serve hospital, physician and laboratory customers.

The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Humana senior vice president and chief information and service officer Brian LeClaire said the company remains focused on leveraging the technology to provide a more coordinated patient experience for its members that will enable quality, affordable health care.

"With the health information exchange platform from Certify we can move closer to creating a virtual integrated delivery health care system that can help us deliver this value-added, simplistic experience to our members," LeClaire added.
