Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) announced that HealthTrust Purchasing Group, LP (HealthTrust) has awarded HMSA a contract for Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) products. The contract includes HMSA’s Oasis 1.2T High-Field Open MRI and Echelon XL/XLS 1.5T short-bore MRI. HMSA’s Echelon XL/XLS 1.5T short-bore MRI is the short-bore scanner, which allows all exams, including brain scans, to be performed with the patient entering the scanner feet first.

This product is available in either 8- or 16-channel RF configuration.

“We are pleased to have been selected by HealthTrust,” said Sheldon Schaffer, vice president and general manager of MR/CT for HMSA. “Hitachi’s Oasis is a unique product that combines high-field image clinical capability, image quality and throughput with a superior patient experience which only a truly open MRI environment enables.”

“Our customers report feet-first scanning has not only dramatically decreased patient anxiety but has an added benefit of increasing throughput,” Schaffer said.
