NorthStar Anesthesia, one of the country's leading anesthesia care companies, announced that it has been selected by Mercy, based in Toledo, Ohio, to manage their anesthesia services for four of their hospitals: Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy St. Anne Hospital in Toledo, Mercy St. Charles Hospital in Oregon and Mercy Tiffin Hospital in Tiffin.

"As we looked to create a more organized approach in anesthesia services, we selected NorthStar Anesthesia because of their collaborative, transparent approach to the transition process, as well as their track record of meeting surgeons’ needs and upholding the quality of patient care," said Tom Arquilla, metro chief executive officer, Mercy.

"NorthStar remains focused on creating the greatest anesthesia care community in America, and we are honored to partner with a respected healthcare system like the Mercy Health North hospitals in Toledo," said NorthStar CEO Chris Riopelle.

Mercy is a member of Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Health Partners), the largest health system in Ohio and one of the largest non-profit systems in the country.

Locally, Mercy is based in Toledo, Ohio and serves 20-counties in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Mercy provides comprehensive primary and critical care services to residents as well as a robust physician group, Mercy Medical Partners, Life Flight critical air transport services and Mercy College of Ohio.

NorthStar Anesthesia is a company of caregivers, founded by an anesthesiologist and a CRNA. NorthStar partners with hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) nationwide to deliver a more productive and efficient model of anesthesia care.

Its care team approach focuses on the provision of high quality while measurably improving operating room performance. This approach attracted a majority investment from TPG Growth in 2013 and established NorthStar as one of the most successful and fastest growing anesthesia care companies in America.
