Foundation Radiology Group (FRG), a provider of diagnostic imaging services, headquartered in Pittsburgh, has appointed Tom Skelton as chief executive officer. Mr Skelton brings over 25 years of experience within the healthcare industry to his new role as CEO of FRG.

Mr Skelton had served as president of Technology Services at MED3000, a Pittsburgh-based provider of healthcare management and technology services. As president of Technology Services, Mr Skelton’s focus was to improve operational efficiency while driving sales growth.

Prior to his work with MED3000, Mr Skelton had been the founder and CEO of Confluence Medical Systems, a consulting firm created to help accelerate the effective use of information technology in healthcare. While at Confluence, he worked closely with a number of private and small publicly traded firms to assist them in developing and executing growth strategies.

Reportedly, for a period of seven years, starting in March 2000, Mr Skelton served as chief executive officer of Misys Healthcare Systems, a global, $560m organization with over 2,500 employees providing technology services to physicians, hospitals, and home healthcare agencies. During his tenure, he also served as a member of the Misys’ board of directors.

Prior to leaving Pittsburgh to pursue an opportunity in Raleigh, NC, he served as the senior vice president of Operations at Elcomp Systems, a Pittsburgh-based startup. He was a key part of the leadership team that grew Elcomp from $1m to over $15m in revenue, while receiving national acclaim for the quality of their products and services.
