The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared X-spine's Axle-Peek interspinous fusion system.

The Axle-Peek incorporates an implant, provided by Invibio Biomaterial Solutions, manufactured from Peek-Optima which is used to treat degenerative disk disease (DDD).

X-spine president and CEO David Kirschman said the proprietary modular design of the Axle system allows for different types of inserts to be placed in the interspinous space.

"Surgeons can now decide if polymer or titanium is the best choice for their specific needs and indications," Kirschman said.
