DJO Global, a manufacturer of medical devices and services, has introduced Empi Active knee transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (Tens) system to treat knee pain.

The Empi Active system features a specialized wrap incorporating a predetermined electrode which delivers a proprietary Tens waveform to the knee to manage acute, chronic and arthritic pain.

Tens sends electrical stimulation to the brain which inhibits pain signals, thus blocking the pain sensation.

DJO Global president and CEO Mike Mogul said chronic knee pain from osteoarthritis, tendonitis and other conditions is an obstacle to maintaining healthy and active lifestyles and often leads to prolonged inactivity that can create other, more serious health consequences.

The company’s product lines include rigid and soft orthopedic bracing, hot and cold therapy, bone growth stimulators, vascular therapy systems and compression garments, therapeutic shoes and inserts, electrical stimulators used for pain management and physical therapy products.
