Cook Medical, a provider of minimally invasive medical procedures, has introduced Word catheter to treat cysts of the Bartholin gland.

The Word catheter includes a silicone balloon that is inserted into the cyst and then inflated to hold the catheter in place and allow the cyst to heal without closing again.

Cook Medical said the catheter can remain in place for up to 28 days to prevent the cyst from closing and refilling again.

Cook Women’s Health division global leader Christina Anne said the Word catheter brings an economical option for OB/GYNs, emphasizing Cook’s commitment to respond to physician needs.
