Dental equipment and technology firm Convergent Dental has introduced new Ultraguide handpiece and 15/400 hollow waveguide and automatic alignment system for Solea.

Solea is claimed to be the first FDA approved CO2 9.3 micron dental laser for hard and soft tissue.

Convergent Dental CEO Michael Cataldo said: "The introduction of the new Ultraguide broadens the scope of Solea’s clinical capabilities delivering more value and increased opportunities for efficiency gains and revenue growth for our customers.

"The Ultraguide, hollow waveguide and the auto-alignment system demonstrates our ongoing commitment to constant innovation to drive increased value for our customers. This is just one of many improvements our customers can expect to receive throughout 2015 and beyond."

The new Ultraguide is a precision-engineered handpiece that will be used along with the alignment system to detect center point of the laser’s 0.25mm beam and communicate wirelessly with Solea to precisely position it through the exact center of the hollow waveguide’s opening.

The 15/400 hollow waveguide has been specifically designed for access to the periodontal pocket and other hard to reach areas in the oral cavity and received its name from its dimensions, including length of 15mm and an inner diameter of 400ยต.

Convergent is showcasing the new products at the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting at Atlanta, which is being held from March 26 to 28.
