Johnson & Johnson DePuy Synthes Companies' Codman Neuro has introduced new Spetzler Malis Dual Irrigating Disposable Non-Stick Bipolar Forceps for use in neurosurgery.

The new single-use device has been developed for use in electrosurgery for coagulation and irrigation of tissue.

Codman Neuro worldwide president Laxmin Laxminarain said: "Dual-irrigating bipolar forceps is an important innovation that provides neurosurgeons an instrument that delivers on all the essential elements required for the most demanding electrosurgery procedures.

"As the market leader with a long history of innovation, we continue to find areas to enhance procedures and fill unmet clinical needs."
The new device includes irrigation channels inside both of its branches, and offers precise delivery of fluid through each forceps tip for improved and uninterrupted visualization.

Earlier this year, the company also launched Spetzler Malis Slim Non-Stick Bipolar Forceps.

The Spetzler Malis Forceps product line is available, since 2006, noted Codman Neuro.

In addition, Codman Neuro offers Isocool Bipolar Forceps, developed for procedures requiring critically precise temperature control to reduce sticking and charring while coagulating.

Codman Neuro develops devices for hydrocephalus management, neuro intensive care and cranial surgery. It also offers aneurysm coils, vascular reconstruction devices and technologies used in the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms and stroke.
