Civco Medical Solutions has installed its Protura Robotic Patient Positioning System at the Instituto Radioterapia del Este in Puerto Rico.
Civco’s Protura system enables IGRT by providing sub-millimeter corrections with 6 degrees of freedom.
The facility is also using CIVCO’s SBRT immobilization system, including Body Pro-Lok Bridges, and CIVCO’s Universal Couchtop on a GE Big Bore RT-16 CT.
Civco Radiation Oncology president Mike Klein said its 6 degrees of freedom robotic couch expands the ability to optimize dose while sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
Civco Protura Business Development director Eric Knipfer said this is the only installation of CIVCO’s Protura and Varian’s latest Trilogy linear accelerator technology in Puerto Rico.
