Carestream Health, Inc. (Carestream Health), a provider of medical and dental imaging systems and information technology solutions, is planning to lay off 70 employees by December 14, 2009, The Coloradoan reported. The move is expected to result in the layoffs of about 11% of the company's workforce of approximately 600 employees.

Mike Haas, the site manager for Carestream, said that the decision to lay off employees actually was made “a couple months ago.” He said the impacted employees were notified last week that the layoff would occur the week of December 14, 2009.

Haas said employees eligible for severance pay would get two weeks pay for each completed year of service up to 26 weeks. Impacted employees will also get health, life and dental insurance coverage for four months following the layoff. Further, Carestream will provide some outplacement services.
