Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Western Regional Medical Center (WRMC) in Arizona, US, has purchased BSD Medical's BSD-2000 Hyperthermia system.

CTCA, which is comprised of a network of hospitals including WRMC, provides effective cancer treatments and integrative therapies to treat cancer and improve patient’s treatment experience and quality of life.

Under the purchase, the 213,000ft² WRMC all-digital cancer hospital will use BSD-2000 system to provide treatment for cancer patients in the major metropolitan areas of Phoenix, Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland and Albuquerque, US.

By applying radiofrequency energy, the CE-marked BSD-2000 delivers localized therapeutic heating and target the shape, size, and location of the tumor.

In addition, the BSD-2000 system has received the FDA’s Humanitarian Device Exemption approval for use in conjunction with radiation therapy for the treatment of cervical cancer patients who are ineligible for chemotherapy.
