Caliper Life Sciences and Trinean have signed a long-term agreement under which Caliper will distribute Trinean's DropSense platform under the brand name LabChip DS in North American markets.
The LabChip DS, an automated UV/Vis spectral analysis platform helps in analysing concentration levels of about 96 nucleic acid and protein samples within a few minutes.
Caliper Life Sciences president and CEO Kevin Hrusovsky said the company is investing significant resources to develop new products, applications, third party collaborations, co-marketing and distribution agreements to further augment its move into the biotherapeutics and genomics markets.
Trinean CEO Marc Zabeau said the platform provides concentration analysis of 0.5 to 3.0 microlitre droplets of sample with significant time savings and automation benefits to researchers.
The LabChip DS is used for the initial concentration analysis of extracted genomic DNA.
