BSD Medical has sold its MicroThermX microwave ablation systems and antennas to ADA Medikal, a medical specialty distributor, in Turkey.
The sale of multiple MicroThermX systems and antennas forms a part of a distribution agreement signed between the two companies in October 2012.
Featuring a microwave generator, single-patient-use disposable antennas and a thermistor-based temperature monitoring system, the CE-marked mobile MicroThermX system utilizes the phased array technology to provide uniform zones of ablation during a single procedure.
In addition, BSD gained the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) clearance to use the MicroThermX system for ablation of soft tissue.
