BIOLASE Technology, Inc. (BIOLASE), a dental devices company, has appointed Frederick Capallo as interim chief financial officer (CFO) of the company. Capallo has over 20 years of financial experience with medical device companies. He is assuming the responsibilities of David Mulder who assumed the BIOLASE CEO position effective March 4, 2009. Before joining BIOLASE, Capallo spent ten years as director of corporate accounting for Interpore International, Inc.

He comes to BIOLASE as a consultant in May 2006 and was named corporate controller in November 2006.

Mulder said, “Fred served the Company well as the Corporate Controller and as an Interim CFO ahead of my own appointment. We have worked together closely and he has my trust. He is the ideal candidate to help administer the financial aspects of the organization during this interim period. We appreciate his stepping up to the task, and we look forward to his continued contributions.”

Capallo is a Certified Public Accountant. He received a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Salisbury State University in Maryland.
