Benefis Health System has selected NextGen Healthcare Information System's Ambulatory elctronic health record (EHR), practice management (PM) and health information exchange (HIE) as its technology foundation.

NextGen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, provides integrated clinical, financial and connectivity solutions for ambulatory, inpatient and dental provider organizations.

The company is planning its health information exchange (HIE) initiative, which includes sharing critical patient data with the North Central Montana Healthcare Alliance, a 14-hospital critical access network that includes 10 critical access hospitals.

Benefis Health System chief information officer Lee Roath said they needed a platform that could support their clinical and operational needs and affect the consistency of the quality of care they deliver.

"The wealth of specialty content and reporting features that NextGen Healthcare provides, coupled with its capability to exchange patient data with other organizations in our market, made it the clear choice for our system," Roath said.
