Bausch + Lomb, an eye health company, has appointed Mariano Garcia Valino to the newly created role of corporate vice president (VP) and president for Latin America, effective immediately.

Valino served as an operating partner with Advent International, a global private equity firm, where he focused on investment opportunities in the Latin American health care industry.

From 2001 to 2009, he served in multiple roles with Pfizer, including a position as head of Pfizer’s largest operating group in Brazil, overseeing a pharmaceuticals business.

During his tenure at Pfizer, he also served as the chief marketing officer of the Brazilian operation, head of business development for Brazil and head of planning and business development for Latin America and also held positions with McKinsey & Company, Eli Lilly, and Disprofarma.

Bausch + Lomb CEO Brent Saunders said Mariano has extensive experience in developing health care businesses in Latin America and his knowledge, insights, and extensive business networks will prove to expand their presence in the region, which holds potential for eye health growth.
